'Open to interpretation' is a phrase that Paul loves to summarise his abstract work. Over the last 2 or 3 years he has been exploring texture, colour and juxtaposing shapes and marks in his artwork composition, often starting with any of these aspects and allowing the artwork to evolve organically. Other instances Paul begins with a development of soft pastel small sketches, working through them to reach some visual 'chime', whether its colour, a semblance to visual reference in memory, or interesting textures, and eventually committing to canvas or board. Paul finds it fascinating listening to feedback from viewers with what their imagination conjures and what vibe they pick up from each artwork.
